Invest in your future
Make informed decisions about your retirement
Your investment choices
Investing is about putting your money to work so it grows over time and helps you meet your future needs. With MyCTSavings, you have access to a range of investment portfolios, allowing you to invest your contributions based on your retirement goals.
An investment portfolio is simply a compilation of different investments, typically made up of stocks, bonds, and/or cash equivalents. How you choose to invest will depend on your appetite for risk. The portfolio descriptions below can also give you a sense of what each investment option can offer. Before making any investment decisions, consider speaking with a financial advisor.
Choose what’s best for you
When you enroll in MyCTSavings, you have the option to stay invested in the standard, default investment option, or you can choose your own fund(s).
Your portfolio choices
Target Retirement Date Portfolio
Each Target Retirement Portfolio has a specific “target date” (e.g., 2035, 2045, 2055) and invests in a mix of stocks and bond funds based on how far away it is from its target date. Certain portfolios have been created to drive growth for younger investors who can take more risk and become more conservative over time to help investors preserve savings as the funds near their target dates. Target Retirement Portfolios are available for savers of all ages and are usually selected by picking the portfolio that is closest to the year you expect to retire.
Program participants who are enrolled using the default savings choices will be invested automatically in a money market fund until 60 days have passed after their initial contribution, or until they choose to invest in another portfolio. After 60 days, if they have not changed their investment strategy and chosen a different investment portfolio, their funds will be exchanged automatically to a default Target Retirement Date Portfolio based on their date of birth and expected retirement year.
The MyCTSavings Target Retirement Date Portfolios invest in an assortment of stock and bond funds managed by Lockwood Advisors, Inc. These all-in-one options offer diversified portfolios that move to more conservative investments automatically as the beneficiary approaches and moves past the targeted year of retirement.

Static Portfolios
Unlike the Target Retirement Date Portfolios, Static Portfolios are not reallocated automatically to more conservative investments as you approach retirement.
